Define your Robotics Strategy

Manufacturing companies must increase productivity, achieve lower prices and reduce their costs. All this in a volatile market environment, requiring additional flexibility. At the same time, resources for new production equipment are limited. New purchases are often planned just one year ahead.

With the increasing capabilities of robotics, simple forms of artificial intelligence, more interconnected production systems and new business models emerging, this should be done more systematically. To help companies build competence in these fields and define a robot strategy, we elaborated the workshop at hand.

Keynote: Current trends in robotics

Whereas the detailed agenda is subject to the individual requirements of each client, the workshop starts with a 60-minute keynote focusing on the questions:

  • What is happening in robotics?
  • What is working?
  • What not so good?
  • What might be the perspective for the next three to five years?

This will take into consideration the following fields, but not be limited to:

  1. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs)
  2. Collaborative robots (cobots)
  3. Mobile manipulators (cobots combined with autonomous platforms)
  4. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  5. Visual Inspection
  6. Connectivity (e.g. MES/SAP, 5G)
  7. New business models (e.g. leasing, Robots as a Service)

Group discussion

In a group discussion, whose format is decided in coordination with our client, the following questions will be considered:

  • What are opportunities?
  • What are business cases?
  • Internal service providers/customers?

The goal is to generate ideas to develop new applications for pilot projects, with which your company will be able to learn and enhance its robotics competence over time.
